we're unable to print using the local printer attached to the winflector user's local computer. it seems to be "hanging". any suggestion on how to "debug" or troubleshoot?

winflector server machine is windows 10 pro, client machine is windows 8.1 pro, printer is epson LX 310 dot matrix printer with both an LPT1 and USB connectors. we're using the default winflector printer settings, and we can see the @WFC printer suffixes in the choose a printer dialog.

would setting event log and debug levels higher at the winflector server help give us more useful information? what level would be sufficient -- 3? or must be all the way to 5? where would the debug info be found (under serverapplogs too?) ?

thanks for any help!

Winflector supports only Windows printers. If your dot matrix printer prints directly to LPT omitting Windows spoolers it will not be supported by Winflector printing drivers.

Debug levels require special version of the server and it does not allow to debug client.

thanks for the helpful reply.

the epson LX 310 has a USB connector and does support Windows printing. i think i just have to work more on converting the legacy app in question to use windows printing properly instead of dos printing.

could you please let me know if i need to install the epson LX 310 print driver in the winflector server machine for remote printing to work (currently, i only have the print driver installed in the client machine)?

thanks again for any help!

In general you do not need to install the driver on your server. But this is a rather specific printer, so I'm not quite sure. Please try not to install the driver and test printing via EMF and bitmaps. Choose better. :)
